My Teaching Philosophy:
Pre-K3 is all about the children, who have fantasy and reality intertwined in their minds. I believe with all my heart we are all children down deep inside, and what better way to show it than to work with 3-year-olds. I love getting down on the floor with the children, asking them questions that sometimes do not have a right answer, listening to the children, and going with it. We will have open dialogue to build and expand on their conversations. We will be having FUN!
About Me:
I am originally from Port Isabel, TX, across the bridge from South Padre Island. I have been teaching with AISD for the past 14 years. I have worked with ages 3-5, in the classroom and as a reading specialist. I am very excited to be part of the Casey Crocodiles community as the Pre-K3 teacher. Two of my favorite things about teaching are watching the students have an 'aha' moment and learning from the students.
I have lived in Austin for the past 20 years. I attended St. Edward's University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Bilingual Education, specializing in Early Childhood.
I am married and have one daughter who lives in Boston and works at Massachusetts General Hospital as a research technician in the molecular biology department. I enjoy working in the garden, reading spiritual books, and spending time with family.
A Quote I Love:
"Play is the highest form of research." ~Albert Einstein
